فعالية ثقافية في معرض الشارقة للكتاب المصدر: الشارقة ـ مرعي الحليان62

ثلاثة ملامح رئيسية في الدورة الجديدة من معرض الشارقة للكتاب والتي ستنطلق ابتداء من 16 وحتى 26 نوفمبر 2011 في مركز إكسبو الشارقة حيث تحتفي الدورة الجديدة بحلول السعودية والهند ضيفي شرف في المعرض، واطلاق صندوق منح الترجمة بقيمة 300 ألف دولار أميركي لدعم مجال الترجمة والتواصل الشبكي والبرامج التعليمية، ولمزيد من مساعدة الناشرين العرب والأجانب، وإضافة يومي 14 و15 من شهر نوفمبر لأيام المعرض العشرة، لإتاحة الناشرين فرصة استثنائية لشراء وبيع الكتب، وحقوق النشر ويخصص هذان اليومان لعقود الناشرين وبائعي الكتب ويصاحب المعرض 62 فعالية ثقافية.

وكانت دائرة الثقافة والاعلام بالشارقة قد عقدت مؤتمرا صحافيا صباح امس في مقرها، شارك فيه عبدالله العويس، رئيس دائرة الثقافة والاعلام بالشارقة والرعاة الرئيسيين بالإضافة إلى السفير الهندي لدى الدولة وقنصل المملكة العربية السعودية بالدولة.

وقال العويس في كلمة القاها خلال المؤتمر الصحفي: (تؤكد المعارض والفعاليات الثقافية الكبرى التي تنظمها الدائرة برعاية صاحب السمو الشيخ الدكتور سلطان بن محمد القاسمي بما فيها معرض الشارقة الدولي للكتاب، على استمرار المسيرة الثقافية التي بدأت منذ بواكير الثمانينيات بتوجيهات سموه حيث تخلل هذه المسيرة إجماع عربي مازال مكرسا بأن الشارقة عاصمة الثقافة العربية. وستبقى هذه العاصمة مركز استقطاب لحراك ثقافي فاعل أعطى نتائج إيجابية في التنمية الثقافية وتعزيز الحوار الثقافي بين الشرق والغرب.

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council, and Ruler of Sharjah, Department of Culture and information in Sharjah has announced the launch the 30th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair during Press conference held in the new premises of The Department of Culture and Information in Alleya area in Sharjah (Government buildings).

The press conference attended by His Excellency Mr. Abdullah Al Owais, Chairman of The Department of Culture and Information. His Highness sheik Sultan Bin Ahmad Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Corporation, the main media sponsor, Mr. Ahmed Al Amri director of Sharjah International book Fair and His Excellency Ibrahim Saad Al Ibrahim Ambassador of The Kingdom Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Mr. Lokesh Mysore Kapanaiah Ambassador of India in the United Arab Emirate. Also Mr. Abdulaziz Trim, General Manager of "Etisalat" in the northern Emirates, and Mr. Marwan Al Sarkal, Executive Director of Sharjah Investment and development corporation.

This year marks the 30th Anniversary of the Sharjah International Book Fair. The 10-day annual fair is recognized as one of the most significant book fairs in the Middle East and the Arab world, it draws a total of 750 publishers, showcases books from 42 nations, and attracts more than 400,000 visitors from both trade and consumer markets. Unlike most western trade shows, SIBF is a consumer facing event and therefore one of the busiest in the world.

This year, in celebration of the thirtieth anniversary, the professional program at SIBF will be expanded to include bespoke matchmaking sessions, a translation program, including the launch of a $300,000 fund to provide translation grants, networking and educational programs.

HE Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of Department of Culture and Information in Sharjah, said, "Sharjah International Book Fair is one of the biggest events which held every year in Sharjah, confirming the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, member of supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to make Sharjah as a key hub of culture and heritage across the region."

Mr. Ahmad Bin Rakadh Al Amri, Director of SIBF, said, "This year, in celebration of the thirtieth anniversary, the professional program at SIBF will be expanded to include bespoke matchmaking sessions, a translation program, including the launch of a $300,000 fund to provide translation grants, networking and educational programmes."

"We will complete this successful process under the patronage and guidance of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Member of The Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah Who took it upon himself to support the cultural movement in Sharjah and the UAE as a whole," Al Amri added.

Already over 50 international publishers have confirmed attendance from over 16 countries as far such as Japan, Russia, US, Romania, UK and Mexico. The program will also be attended by Arab publishers from across the region keen to build their networks with international publishers. Furthermore, this edition will offer Live Cookery Show 2011 Program which includes 32 recipes across the World represents English, Japanese, Gulf and Mediterranean kitchens as well as easy recipes for kids.

The program of events will also provide Child Program, which includes more than 200 entertainment activities. For the cultural events this edition will be presented 62 cultural events and cultural café's which includes café for children, Sunrise café, Arts and cultures café each one presents more than 30 events. The line-up this year includes Peter James, world renowned crime writer, Kate Mosse, New York Times best-selling novelist and George Goodwin, award-winning historian among of 15 international and Arab authors will be attended this edition.

Unlike most western trade shows, SIBF is a consumer facing event and therefore one of the busiest in the world. Book fairs in Europe tend to be restricted to professionals but Book Fairs in the Arab market target the public as well as professionals.Therefore, Arab Book fairs play a pivotal role in allowing publishers an opportunity to enter a country and sell their books without having to sort out the logistics of finding a distributer. Members of the public who attend Sharjah will have the unique opportunity to meet publishers and authors and buy books directly.

The 30th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair, to be held from Nov.16-26, will be the largest ever. Recognised as one of the most significant book fairs in the Middle East and the Arab world, the fair will draw about 900 publishers from 42 nations who will showcase over 260,000 titles.

In celebration of the 30th anniversary, the professional programme at the fair will be expanded to include bespoke matchmaking sessions, a translation programme, including the launch of a $300,000 fund to provide translation grants, networking and educational programmes.

Ahmed Al Amri, director of Sharjah International Book Fair, said that this edition will also see big participation from India, which will be the focus country in the international section. The Indian pavilion will showcase more than 35 top Indian publishers.

Highlight of Indian participation will be the presence of ten popular authors including Dr Shashi Tharoor, Shobha De, Chetan Bhagat, Ruskin Bond, MT Vasudevan Nair, M Mukundan and Jaishree Misra.

India’s Minister for Overseas Indian V Ravi will inaugurate the Indian pavilion, which will be followed by a public function in the evening showcasing various cultural activities.

Ambassador of India MK Lokesh said that India has a vibrant publishing industry. The country is among the top ten publishing nations in the world, while it is ranked third, after the US and UK, in English language books.

The exhibition will be accompanied by cultural, intellectual and creative activities, which is expected to be attended by elite of Arab world, whose participation will ensure cultural interaction between the UAE and the world.

Books on Islamic affairs will also be in plenty. Most of them are in Arabic, but several of the good works by Arab authors are also available with its translation in English.

The Sharjah International Book Fair has grown tremendously since its inception 30 years ago and has become one of the biggest book fairs in the Arab world.

The publishing houses participating in the exhibition focus more on publishing books for children because if the habit is initiated in childhood it will continue throughout life.

SHARJAH — The Department of Culture and Information on Sunday announced the launch of the 30th Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) from November 16 to 26 at the Expo Centre.

The book fair, titled ‘For Love of The Written Words’, will introduce more books in foreign languages as a new Translation Centre will also be inaugurated. With a dedicated annual budget of around Dh1 million by His highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to translate Arabic history, culture and many other issues to different languages, the initiative plans to promote intellectual relations. The 10-day annual fair is recognised as one of the most significant book fairs in the Middle East and the Arab world, as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was selected as the guest of honour and India was selected as this year’s cultural focus with around 35 publishers.

Sharjah International Book Fair offers an online club for readers which presents wide range of books. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of Department of Culture and Information in Sharjah, said:

Sharjah: The Government of Sharjah has granted a total of $300,000 (Dh1.1 million) to the International Book Fair's translation centre during the upcoming book fair.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Ahmad Bin Rekadh Al Ameri, Director of Sharjah International Book Fair, pointed out that even though the translation centre is a key feature every year at the book fair, "this year is different because in celebration of the 30th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair, we will translate books not only from Arabic into other languages but vice versa as well."

The Centre for Translation will serve as a platform to provide publishing houses with translation grants, networking and educational programmes.

The 30th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair is held under the patronage of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and will run from November 16 to 26.

The fair will also feature a "rights table" on November 14 and 15, where publishers and businesses can discuss proposed grants for rights sold during this event.

Top authors

The ten-day annual book fair is recognised as one of the most significant book fairs in the Middle East and the Arab world, as this year it draws 750 publishers, showcases books from 42 countries, and expects to attract more than 400,000 visitors from both trade and consumer markets.

"A total of 137 UAE publishing houses will participate at the book fair, and all Arab countries except for Libya will be participating," said Al Ameri, who added that the event will feature up to 260,000 titles in various languages.

More than 50 international publishers from more than 16 countries have confirmed their attendance. The programme will also be attended by Arab publishers from across the region keen to build their networks with international publishers. As part of this year's celebration, Saudi Arabia has been invited as the fair's Guest of Honour, and the cultural focus will be on India.

Al Ameri said, "There will be more than 20 top Indian publishers and there will be a showcase to highlight the presence of ten distinguished authors," including Dr Shashi Tharoor, Shobhaa De and Chetan Bhagat.

In addition, this year's book fair will offer a Live Cookery Show 2011 programme that comprises 32 recipes across the world. Some world-renowned authors participating include crime writer Peter James, New York Times best-selling novelist Kate Mosse, and award-winning historian George Goodwin.

عقد صباح أمس في مقر دائرة الثقافة والإعلام مؤتمر صحفي لتدشين الدورة الثلاثين لمعرض الشارقة الدولي للكتاب التي تنطلق ابتداء من 16 ولغاية 26 نوفمبر/ تشرين الثاني المقبل في مركز اكسبو الشارقة .

حضر المؤتمر عبدالله العويس رئيس دائرة الثقافة والإعلام في الشارقة، وأحمد بن ركاض العامري مدير عام معرض الشارقة الدولي للكتاب، والشيخ سلطان بن أحمد القاسمي رئيس مؤسسة الشارقة للإعلام “الراعي الرسمي الرئيسي للمعرض” وعبدالعزيز حمد تريم مدير عام اتصالات، فرع الإمارات الشمالية و مروان السركال المدير التنفيذي لهيئة الشارقة للاستثمار والتطوير “شروق”، ولوكيش مايسور كابانيا سفير الجمهورية الهندية المعتمد لدى الدولة، وصالح بن حمد السحيباني الملحق الثقافي لدى الملحقية السعودية في الدولة نائب ابراهيم بن سعد الإبراهيم سفير خادم الحرمين الشريفين لدى الدولة .

وقال عبدالله العويس رئيس دائرة الثقافة وإلاعلام في الشارقة “سارت تجربة معرض الشارقة الدولي للكتاب قُدماً نحو المزيد والمزيد من الانجازات على درب تأصيل المعاني والأهداف الكبيرة من وراء هذا المهرجان الثقافي السنوي الذي يتشرف دوماً بتوجيهات ورعاية ومبادرات صاحب السمو الشيخ الدكتور سلطان بن محمد القاسمي عضو المجلس الأعلى حاكم الشارقة” وأضاف “أن المعرض سيباشر في دورته الجديدة ذات الأهمية الاستثنائية مصفوفة واسعة من الفعاليات، حيث سيجتمع وزراء الثقافة العرب في الفترة ذاتها بالشارقة، وفي إطار فعاليات المعرض، سيتداولون أبرز الخصائص المميزة للعمل الثقافي المؤسسي العربي، إضافة إلى تنسيق الجهود والتشاور والتعاون” وأشار العويس الى أن المملكة العربية السعودية ستكون ضيف شرف المعرض لهذا العام، فيما تتقدم الثقافة الآسيوية من خلال الحضور الهندي الخاص، في دالة أخرى على درب الحوار الحضاري الإنساني الذي نحرص عليه دوماً” .

وأشار أحمد بن ركاض العامري إلى حجم الخبرة المكتنزة بالتجربة على مشارف عمر المعرض الذي تحول إلى معلم بارز في العطاء الثقافي المؤسسي للشارقة، في المستويين النوعي والكمي، وأشار إلى الفعاليات المرافقة للمعرض والتي تقدم مادة ثقافية ناجزة معززة بكل وسائل الإعلام التي تخص الناشرين وأفضل عناوين الكتب وغيرها من الفعاليات المصاحبة ومنها انشاء ناد للقراءة من خلال برنامج في “حضرة الكتاب” وأنجز بالتعاون مع مؤسسة الشارقة للإعلام . وأكد العامري على الانعطافة الجديدة في مسيرة المعرض بتوجيهات ورعاية صاحب السمو حاكم الشارقة، الذي وجه برصد مبلغ 300 ألف دولار أمريكي، يخصص سنويا لدعم الترجمة من مختلف لغات العالم، ويؤسس لإنشاء المركز الدولي للترجمة والحقوق في معرض الشارقة الدولي للكتاب .

وأشار العامري إلى بعض الإرقام الاحصائية الدالة في المشاركات التي ارتفعت في هذه الدورة إلى 900 دار، كما بلغت العناوين 260 ألف عنوان، وتجاوز عدد الفعاليات 300 مفردة، كما تم إضافة يومي 14 و15 من شهر نوفمبر من أيام المعرض لخدمة الناشرين المشاركين، كما أشار إلى المختارات الأدبية بعنوان “إبداعات من الإمارات” والتي سطر مقدمتها وأعدّها الأديب الإماراتي “محمد المر”، التي تعرف بالأدب الإماراتي .

في السياق ذاته تمت الإشارة إلى “برنامج الطفل” الذي يضم أكثر من 200 نشاط ترفيهي، و62 فعالية ثقافية، عدا عن المقاهي الثقافية بما فيها مقهى اتصالات ومقهى الشروق ومقهى جاشنمال وتقدم كل منها أكثر من 30 فعالية . هذا فضلا عن الندوات الحوارية التي يشارك في تقديمها 15 مؤلفاً وكاتباً عربياً وعالمياً .

وأكد الشيخ سلطان بن أحمد القاسمي رئيس مؤسسة الشارقة للإعلام على الحضور المتميز والمهم لمركز الشارقة الإعلامي الذي سيعمل على التواصل الفعال مع كل وسائل الإعلام المحلية والإقليمية والعالمية لتغطية الحدث والعمل على التوثيق الدقيق لأهم تفاصيل هذا العرس الثقافي في الشارقة .

وأشار عبدالعزيز حمد تريم ان معرض الشارقة الدولي للكتاب عزز مكانته الرائدة كأهم الأحداث الثقافية على المستويين الإقليمي والدولي حيث بات ملتقى للأدباء والمثقفين والناشرين منارة تشع لتضيء الطريق لكل صاحب قلم وفكر وسفير للدولة ينقل انجازاتها وحضارتها وتفوقها عبر العالم .

وأكد مروان السركال أن مشاركة هيئة الشارقة للاستثمار والتطوير في رعاية معرض الشارقة يأتي ضمن توجيهات سمو الشيخة بدور بنت سلطان القاسمي رئيس الهيئة القاضية بدعم جميع الفعاليات الثقافية في إمارة الشارقة إضافة إلى استراتيجية “شروق” في دعم جميع الفعاليات التي من شأنها تحقيق إضافة قيمة في تطوير ورفعة إمارة الشارقة .

بدوره تحدث صالح بن حمد السحيباني عن برنامج مشاركة المملكة العربية السعودية في معرض الكتاب والذي يتضمن محاضرات أدبية وفكرية وسياسية عديدة ذات صلة بصناعة القرار السياسي والثقافي في دول الخليج .
